Tax free childcare now available for children under 4

Parents can now apply for the new government scheme, where for every £8 that parents pay, the government will top up with an additional £2.

Both parents must be working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family) and earning at least £120 per week/£6,000 per year. If earning less than £11,500, you may not be paying any tax, but you are still entitled to the top up.

There’s a useful government website Childcare Choices which provides help and guidance on ways parents can get help with childcare costs.

You can apply here

Later this year, the scheme will be widened for children up to the age of 12.
